Rydon Construction won the design and build project for Catalyst Housing, to construct 76 residential units over five floors, above a ground floor retail area, with a podium roof on the first floor deck, providing a south-facing communal garden, play area and residents’ allotments.
Waterproofing specialist Accurate Roofing turned to Eco Green Roofs Ltd (EGR) to deliver this specific element, to achieve a value engineered solution that met the design brief within budget.
The scheme had to address tight logistics- the only access to the site was via a small access road behind for the crane, delivery vehicles had to accommodate the confined space, and works had to interface with other trades on site.
It also had to take into account structural considerations to achieve the appropriate build-up of the podium directly over the waterproofing.
