Six Acres Green Roof, Islington

Housing

This green roof project contributed to the regeneration of social housing stock, as part of an extensive programme of works implemented by the London Borough of Islington.

The scope of works planned for this estate to have improved overall estate aesthetics, resulting in reaction to completed works by both the client and residents being hugely positive.

Successful collaborative working on this scheme, having a close working relationship with both the client and the contractor. This enabled a successful design of an extensive green roof system for a number of buildings equating to 3,100m² in total.

The roof system consists of a built up roof, recycled drainage layer, 40mm of substrate and pre-cultivated sedum.

This provides a roof that is low maintenance, and will improve insulation to the building whilst making the estate environmentally friendly and greener.
